Lady Baga Lower Parel Review

Having just returned from Divar island, the quieter part of Goa - that is high on serenity but devoid of the trademark sandy beaches, the craving to visit Goan beach shacks intensified! And there came Lady Baga, AD Singh's Goa-inspired, shack-style restaurant, so close to home that it called for a celebration. This tiny and sandy island, located at Kamala Mills beckons everyone to indulge in an authentic Goa beach shack experience in Mumbai. Cool, right?  Yes, we think so too :D

Step into Lady Baga and the visual experience is a riot of colors. Colorful hammocks and crochet lamps on the ceiling, hand-made dream catchers and bead curtains woven into the decor, vibrant wall art and brocade cholis re-creates Goan inspired atmosphere perfectly. The relaxed seating, accentuated with tie-dye cushions spells instant comfort, the kick-your-heels and enjoy-your-drink kind!!!

Have a Drink?
The bar is buzzing with activity during our visit on a Friday evening. We spot in-house infusions and over kokum shots, talk to the mixologist about some yummy concoctions that shall be on the menu soon! We started with Bloody Marianna, Lady Baga's answer to Bloody Mary with a house-made Goan chorizo infused vodka and loved it!!!

Rum lovers should try Baga Bong - made with white & dark rum, lime, grapefruit and passion fruit, smooth and easy! Shot lovers do not miss Acid Test - a double shot wonder with jalapeño infused vodka and kalakhatta infused vodka in equal proportions.

Not a drinker? Try the delicious Ginger Spice made with generous dose of ginger juice, lime and soda, that comes in stylish glassware.

Some Starters?
Bombil Bhajias - crispy bhajias made with bombay duck (a very tasty fish that looks nothing like a duck).

Try the Lemon Butter Garlic Calamari if you love fresh seafood flavors and generous portions.

Rissóis Prawn - crusted, D-shaped croquettes stuffed with tangy baby shrimp vindaloo are a must try!

A Taste Of Mains
One cannot miss the Classic Fish Curry made with catch of the day (in our case, king fish) and served with red unpolished rice. Try the simple yet delicious Goan Dal on the side- tempered with red chilies and garlic. Pork Vindaloo - slow cooked pork in wine vinegar, Goan spices and garlic goes best with Poee - mildly spice Goan bread.

Dessert Time
For desserts try Crème Caramel à L’Orange, silky creme caramel custard infused with the zest of Malta orange - good fusion of flavors. Our favorite was the Rasta Chocolate Cup - dark chocolate mousse with hints of coffee and rum...yum!

Our dinner at Lady Baga made us feel at home - albeit in Goa with the in house DJ playing good music through the night! Try the restaurant’s all-day breakfast menu or munch on some sandwiches and burgers during lunch. Still want more? Lady Baga also does amazing freak shakes, smoothies and golas (flavored crushed ice).
