Review: Turning Point, Delhi

Delhi Cantonment, or Delhi Cantt. as it is more commonly known, is famous for two things. One, for being the base for various Defense Services’s staff and offices and second for Aggarwal Sweet’s Lassi (butter milk, which has fans all across Delhi since many years now). Except for these two things, we haven’t heard much about the place and we too pass through the area but haven’t noticed any happening place to unwind or eat. However, since a couple of months some friends and acquaintances had been raving about a restaurant located there. The name of the restaurant they mentioned was Turning Point located in Gopinath Bazaar, Delhi Cantt.

So, last Sunday evening we decided to check out the place ourselves. After all, where there is a mention of good food, Wicked Spoon confessions is bound to visit the place! Well, read on to know if our friends were right and if we were able to satisfy our palate.

New Replaces the Old for a Better Future.

Nostalgia can hit you anywhere. Sometimes while eating a ladoo that tastes just like grandma used to make, passing by an old coffee shop that you used to frequent as a kid that has now been replaced by a cafe with high speed wi-fi or while drinking fancy mocktails while actually craving for a glass of Rasna. One day I got enveloped in nostalgia too while surfing the internet. I stumbled upon this video by Birla Sunlife Mutual Fund that shows how there are now easier way to do things rather than the lengthy and time consuming ways of the past.

First Look: The Tipsy Terrace At Grand Sarovar Premier, Mumbai

We are not easily tempted. But the promise of good food presented in chic and modern interiors of an open-air restaurant can tempt! Tempt us enough to make us travel to the busy suburb of Goregaon in Mumbai. And if Wicked Spoon Confessions was one of the first few to take a sneak peak…the temptation reaches epic proportions. We have always told you, there is something about restaurant openings that gets us excited.

What You See:

Step onto the Tipsy Terrace and one sees tastefully decorated open area with colorful lights, water bodies, few plants and a Television screen near the entrance. The seating is a mix of comfortable tables and chairs and few booths with red cushy sofas.

Top 5 reasons why gifting food is a good idea

Dusshera, Diwali, Bhai Duj, Chhat, Christmas, New Year, Valentine’s…Yeaa! The festive season is here! This is probably the best time of the year when people from all communities get a chance to celebrate some of their most awaited festivals.

Festivals across the world are associated with sweets, fire crackers, flowers, chocolates, champagne and all the other good things of life. India is no different when it comes to festive celebrations. During this season, we love to be loud and turn into big time spendthrifts. The most of the spending is done for either buying the loudest of fire crackers (at least most of the people I know do that!:)) or for purchasing special gifts for our beloved friends and family members! However, we have noticed that it’s selecting and buying of such gifts that ties everyone into knots.

Many friends ask us for our advice on what to buy and we always tell them, buy something to eat! Yes, you heard (read?) that right. The way to every person’s heart is through his or her stomach. All other things are secondary. Now you would be thinking why gifting food items is such a good idea! Let us list out some pretty basic reasons and maybe you will end up nodding your heads with these reasons.

Festive Gifts for Loved Ones

Our favorite time is here. November and December; also known as the Saturday and Sunday of the year bring in joy with festivities all around. Family get-togethers are planned, lights twinkle in every home, new friends are made and gifts are exchanged. We wait for this time all year long; because this is the only time even our bosses don’t mind us taking a few days off!!! Everyone is high on energy, there is happiness on every face and we can’t wait to shower our close ones with gifts. And Indian festivals are incomplete without sharing food- mithai, dry fruits, chocolates…everything is welcome.

But the niggling question raises its head, every year. The desire to gift something unique is so strong that it sends us into frenzy!! There are always a few special people, who are tough to please. Some run away at mention of mithai fearing calories, a few have only organic food and yet others want to enjoy as much sugar rush as possible.

Recently, while on one such Gifting treasure hunt we came across Godrej Nature’s Basket range of gift hampers and gift sets. We got curious and started browsing. The more we browsed the more we got excited. These bespoke hampers were filled with such exotic and gourmet goodies that it would leave a lasting impression on some tough cookies like:

Top 5 Edible Gifts from Nature’s Basket

With the festivities staring at us on face, every house is abuzz with chaos and excitement simultaneously. The euphoria is in the air. Honestly, we all love the pandemonium festive season brings. With gift lists…wrapping papers…boxes - all in place— but what to gift??  The weighing question puts everybody in a tight spot.

Just as me and my husband were pondering on one such list adding and deleting items to suit the individual tastes, the good luck fairy came to our rescue and there we had a dear friend visiting us who got us a grand Godrej Nature’s Basket hamper as our Diwali gift. It was like a dream gift. A meticulously designed assortment of goodies, to our liking.

We instantly knew, this is it - where our ceaseless gift hunting journey ends. We got on to the Internet and browsed through the Godrej Nature’s basket portal (www.naturesbasket.co.in) and to our amazement it had an array of options to choose from. It was stocked with something for everybody. Unique assortments, themed hampers, chic packaging and the best part— everything was competitively priced all in one place. It’s like a one stop shop solution.  We both agreed that Godrej Nature’s Basket was the new gifting connoisseur.

Gift Yourself Happiness with ASUS Zenfone

Diwali- the festival of lights brings in a lot of joy and cheer in our lives. Tiny diyas are lit symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, special Indian mithais are made, new outfits are bought and my favorite part- gifts are exchanged. I love buying gifts all year round for my loved ones but the gifts I select during Diwali are special. My mom & dad who look resplendent in their new outfits, award me with such a dazzling smile when they find their gifts that I hide in their wardrobes….that it lights up my Diwali ! My younger cousins all rise early and dress in finery because every year I gift a special something to “The best dressed girl” & “The most handsome boy”. In fact the competition to win has became intense and so has been my desire to gift something that can bring unlimited happiness in my loved ones lives.
