Mohammad Ali Road’s Specialities At Sofitel Mumbai BKC
Every year during the holy month of Ramadan, every nook & corner of Mohammed Ali Road is abuzz! Sizzling kebabs along with other various meaty delicacies & sugary specials beckon rumbling stomachs to break their fast. Foodies head to their favorite joints to sample gastronomical delights. Not to miss the delight that is on offer to food lovers during this holy month, we headed to Jyran - Tandoor Dining & Lounge, Sofitel Mumbai BKC's signature restaurant, helmed by Chef Shadab Ahmed. The festival promised us delights curated straight from the kitchens of Mohammed Ali Road & who can resist the lure of such signature preparations?
We started with a soothing watermelon sherbet made with fresh watermelon juice, kokum juice & flavored with rock salt. The variety on offer is huge with various must have dishes, so choose wisely :D.
For starters, we tried Chicken Cutlet- made with minced chicken, generously spiced & cooked on a griddle. The cutlet was soft, juicy & flavorful.
Macchi Tawa Fry- pan cooked tilapia fish flavored with Indian spices was another good choice.
Vegetarians can try appetizers like Vegetable Cutlet (minced vegetable patty seasoned with select spices) & Subz Seekh Roll (roll made with seasonal vegetables flavored with mint chutney).
For the main course we tried Bheja Masala Pav- lamb brain cooked with onion, tomatoes & spices. Enjoy it with warm bread to balance the spicy flavors.
Khichda- a dish made through the holy month of Ramadan is a delicious concoction made with lamb, lentils & masalas. Khichda tastes best paired with soft bread. The portions of main course are generous so order slowly though the flavors tempt you to indulge!
One cannot experience a true Mohammed Ali Road festival without relishing Falooda- cold dessert beverage made with flavored milk, vermicelli, basil seeds, jelly & dry fruits . We chose Noorani Kulfi Falooda & Phirni for desserts. Served in a mason jar, the falooda was an instant hit & we recommend you to try it!
