Review: Enter The Dragon Festival at Trident, Bandra Kurla Complex

The beautiful Mumbai monsoons always makes us crave for fiery cuisine that tingle our taste buds. Having had loads of Mumbai favorites like misal-pav, vada-pav and biryani, we were craving a change!! And it came. In form of a food festival called "Enter The Dragon" hosted at O22 restaurant at Trident Bandra Kurla Complex. Chef Zong Shou Chen from The Oberoi Gurgaon will present authentic Oriental cuisine at O22, Trident's All Day Dining restaurant. How could we miss this? We had to catch the dragon before he leaves town? :)

The welcoming lobby of Trident, Bandra Kurla was brimming with guests on a thursday evening. We weaved our way through the crowd and settled at a comfortable table that faced tall glass windows, laced with raindrops. How beautiful..:)

Extremely popular amongst buffet lovers, O22 restaurant exudes a charming vibe with modern interiors. We settled back with "Melon on the Rocks" mocktail, a refreshing drink with water melon base and frozen grenadine cubes.

Hunger pangs beseeched us to try the delicacies on offer. Apart from the regular buffet, an entire section was dedicated to the festival that housed Oriental salads, starters, live stations and main course. We started with the variety of cheese of offer and sampled the couscous and palm heart salad and moved to the Oriental section.

A live station was offering hot vegetable dumplings with choice of dips- an offer one cannot refuse. We settled back on our table and the dumplings arrived- hot, freshly steamed, juicy and flavorsome!!

Next we tried the Chinese style roast chicken (whole chicken marinated in Asian spices and roasted) that was juicy, pink and simply delicious.

The stuffed Tofu with Zucchini in hot garlic sauce was a big hit and the prawns in hot pot sauce were nice too, but we took seconds of the tofu :)

By now we were waiting to try Chef Cecep's sushi that is the best in town. We tried spicy salmon with avocado and eel with cucumber sushi- and loved it!! No wonder Chef Cecep has a dedicated fan following :D

From the main course we tried Sichuan style chili bean fried rice with fish in pickled pepper sauce- that went very well with the fragrant rice was satiating. Next we sampled, Stir fried vegetable noodles with generous sprinkling of crushed pepper that complimented the sweet taste of stir fry pumpkin with chilies and hoisin sauce. Our pick was Ma Po Tofu with chicken (a popular dish from Sichuan region in spicy chili bean sauce)- a must try.

The best part, desserts had a mix of international favorites and authentic Asian desserts, our pick was Thap Thim Krop- water chestnuts in coconut milk. Do try the sesame pancake with ice cream of choice from the ice cream station..just like we did :)
