Whether you choose to stay in Ao Nang- Krabi's vibrant tourist center, middle of bustling & authentic Thai town- Krabi town, Nopparat Thara- an upcoming tourist destination or Klong Muang- a pretty beach area located to the north of Ao Nang, there is lot to explore in Krabi on a rented bike. We stayed in Ao Nang as its located in vicinity of quiet a few attractions, making it easy to plan day trips. Many roadside motorbike rentals offer bikes on rent & take deposit in cash & passport copies. Do look for an authentic agency & avoid handing over your original passport.

Spend a Day At One A Fabulous Beach:

Krabi beaches offer you a brilliant tropical getaway with emerald waters, white sands, hidden coves & offshore islands. The one on the must visit list is Railay Peninsula. Reachable only by long tail boats, getting here early as there is much to explore. We landed on Railay West before heading to Railay East, then Phranang Beach on foot. There are many activities to keep you busy- sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. The crystal clear waters allow you glimpses of beautiful & colorful marine life. We spent lazy afternoons on Nopparat Thara Beach that lies close to Ao Nang town & is popular among locals. Other popular beaches are Ao Nang beach & Klong Muang - a more quieter beach ideal for couples looking to spend some quiet time together.

Enjoy a Long tail Boat Ride:

A long tail boat ride is a classic & traditional way to go island hopping in Krabi. We suggest you hire your own boat that comes with a guide so that you can spend time on the islands you visit as per choice. Rentals for private boats start from 1700 THB. Also, check the safety equipment of the boat before starting.

Visit Tiger Cave Temple:

Located 3 kms from Krabi town, Tiger Cave Temple complex is a meditation center & place of archaeological and historical interest. Many tourists & locals attempt the steep 1,272 step climb to see the "Footprint of the Buddha". We tried the steep climb but gave up due to the heat and humidity. People who make it to the top often talk about the stunning 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside and the Andaman Sea.

Shop At The Fabulous Day & Night Markets:

Krabi offers a fabulous choice for shopping enthusiasts. Instead of big shopping malls, tourists can indulge in shopping at one of the fabulous road side markets at Krabi. Ao Nang main beach road has many shops that sell souvenirs, beach essentials, clothes & more. After a tiring day, one can also indulge in foot massages in one of the shops at reasonable prices. Ao Nang Night Plaza is also a good option if you are busy on the beaches during the day. The Krabi night market encourages sale of local produce & handicrafts & the best part is we relished many local delicacies while watching live performances....the best way to experience the real taste of Krabi.
