Chef's Table at Gaylord's Mumbai - An Iconic Restaurant that stood the test of time!

My mom walked into my room as I checked my reflection and grabbed my purse to leave. Before she could ask, I hastily mumbled, “ I am going to Gaylord’s Ma”.  Her eyes twinkled and a smile crept onto her lips and I stopped in my tracks.  “As a child, you used to eat cakes only from their bakery” she whispered and looked at me, trying to search her little daughter in this hyper adult, that I have lately become.  I sat down besides her, to reminiscence my childhood stories and her customary post work Saturday lunches at Gaylord’s. After a full 30 min of walking down the memory lane, I hailed a cab to take me to Gaylord’s, a place that had made me happy even before I could sample their delicacies.

Gaylord Restaurant opened its doors in 1956 serving North Indian, Mughlai and Continental fare to patrons. Many a times, I have sampled the amazing range of cakes, desserts, chocolates, muffins, and breads (health, wheat, multigrain and regular white- yup, have tried it all!!!) but lately, I had not been to their restaurant.

Review: From breakfast bites to late night coffees and the in-betweens, Le Café a relaxed bistro has it covered

A long weekend brings joy and a question, “Where do we Go?” Tired of crowded spots of Lonavala, we decided to use it to explore dining options in various budgets in and around Chembur. The new wing of R City Mall, Ghatkopar is brimming with outlets like Starbucks, TGIF, Rolling Pin, Le Cafe and more.

They say nothing excites a woman like a sign that reads, “ 50 % Sale”. I say, nothing excites a foodie more than the sign- “Happy Hours” to indulge in pricey tipple or delicious treats. On one such long weekend, we spotted the happy sign at Le Café and settled.

What You See-
Step into a minimalistic and small-relaxed bistro, which has sofas and individual tables for dining. A large screen TV was tuned into a sports events and a board announced the menu and the signature dishes.

Review Enjoy Spectacular Views and Colonial Charm at Sea Lounge, Taj Mahal Palace

Ma says, “I am her Princess”- partially true, as I do try and indulge myself in royal treats when I am bored of staying afloat in choppy corporate waters. On one such weekend I woke up, craving for a royal treat and decided to head to the Sea Lounge at Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba-one of the oldest coffee shops in the city with my family. Located on the first floor of the Palace Wing, the Sea Lounge is known as an institution in itself.

What You See-
Welcomed by the manager, I longingly looked at my favorite table with unbeatable views of the Arabian Sea. Since it was occupied, we were seated at a comfortable couch. I took in the pastel colored walls shimmering under the glow from the antique chandeliers.

Restore and Rejuvenate at the Ramada Caravela Resort in South Goa

The day was off to a promising start. The Janshatabdi Express chugged away from Dadar station dot on time, holding a promise of a magical time in Goa.  This was the second time I was visiting Goa in the monsoons. We chose to travel by train one-way to spot waterfalls rushing to meet the green landscape- a sight that converts itself to a memory and resides with you forever.

Here is why you should do it too:
