Easy Homemade Mango Jam Recipe Without Pectin

Summer brings the best crop of mangoes to our homes and it's tough to resist them. Moreover, amongst all the ways we can savor mangoes, making a jam out of them is a great way of relishing their flavors even after the season is over. Although, we would love to stock up many things in our pantry, the Covid-19 situation calls for smarter measures. Additionally, recipes that call for easily available ingredients are much required. So, here is an easy homemade mango jam recipe without pectin.

Ingredients:

2 cups thick mango pulp (use chopped mango pieces if you want a chunkier version)
1 1/2 to1 cup Sugar as per taste
Juice of one lemon

Method:
  1. Take a thick wide pot & pour the mango pulp into it. Add sugar & mix well.
  2. Now, add the lemon juice.
  3. Put the pot over low heat & cook till the mango pulp comes to a boil. Keep stirring the pulp with a wooden spatula so that it does not burn. Besides, the mangoes will take almost 20-30 mins to reach a rolling boil.
  4. Switch off the heat, when the pulp appears translucent.
  5. Pour in to a clean jar with a tight lid.
  6. Store in refrigerator.

How to make Mango Ginger Jam:

If you are looking to add a bit of zing to the jam, add little finely chopped ginger while boiling mango pulp to make mango ginger jam.

How to make Mango Saffron Jam:

The delicate flavour of saffron infused in mango is heavenly. To make a delicious mango saffron jam, add a pinch of saffron & little ground cardamom to the mango pulp just before it boils. Heat till the jam is done on low flame.
