Delicious Indian Recipes With Curd (Dahi) To Try At Home

An intrinsic part of our daily diets, curd (dahi) is consumed in many forms. Across Indian kitchens, the ever present bowl of curd helps rustle up recipes that are healthy, satiating & therapeutic. Dahiwale Aloo:

One of the most satiating recipes made with curd and potato, dahiwale aloo pairs well with steamed rice or hot rotis. Finely chop 2-3 big steamed potatoes & keep aside. Whisk one cup curd with little besan till smooth. In a kadhai, add oil & saute cumin seeds. When they crackle add chopped onions & tomatoes & saute till soft. Now add the potatoes & spice powders like turmeric, red chili & coriander. Add salt & mix well. Reduce the flame & add whisked curd along with little water. Let this mix cook for 10-12 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander & serve.

Dahi Chicken:

A simple chicken curry that is ready in a jiify! In a kadhai, add oil, cinnamon stick, badi elaichi & cloves. When fragrant, add chopped onions & saute till soft. Now add slit green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, dry masala powders like turmeric, red chili & garam masala. Once oil seperates from masala, add diced cleaned chicken & stir fry. Cook till chicken turns a bit soft. Add whisked curd & mix well. Adjust salt & water. Cook till done. Serve hot with rotis or rice.

Curd Rice:

A great summer recipe, curd rice is fairly easy to make. However, try and use freshly cooked rice instead of leftover rice in this recipe. Mash cooked rice when cooled. Add a little bit of milk to cooled rice if you plan to eat it later or pack curd rice in lunch box. Now mix whisked yogurt with the rice. In a pan, add oil. Once hot, add mustard seeds & allow to crackle. Now add one broken red chili, urad dal, curry leaves & chopped ginger. Once curry leaves turn crisp add hing. Add the tempering to the prepared mix & serve.

Fresh Dill & Curd Dip

Commonly, known as shepu or suva, fresh dill leaves have many health benefits. Here is an easy Indian dip recipe made with dill leaves.

Finely chop about 1/2 cup dill leaves. Take one cup hung yogurt & add the chopped leaves. Using hung yogurt ensures a creamy consistency. Now add 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste & mix. Add salt & pepper to taste. Mix well & serve chilled.
