Review: Bungalow 9, a beautiful restaurant, housed in a Bungalow

What you see - Tucked behind Lilavati Hospital, Bandra in Mumbai, past a couple of eateries stands a sprawling restaurant, Bungalow 9 housed in a villa. The well lit outdoor area has seating amongst a garden which has Mango, jack fruit and chickoo trees, a fountain and flowing water. The indoor area has an old English club like feel with air conditioned seating, high ceiling and a spacious bar. An open air terrace area can be used for private dining. Plush sofas are spread across the majestic space.

What you get-
Bungalow 9 serves European, Italian, Thai, Mediterranean and limited Sri Lankan and Japanese cuisines. The bar has an opulent selection of cocktails, mocktails, wines and domestic and international liquors.
Once, Inside, we settled back on our sofas with mojitos in hand, appreciating the sheer magnitude of the place. For starters we tried smoked salmon rolls, which had smoked salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese strips and loved them. Exhilarated, by the success we also ordered veg Maki rolls, select vegetables rolled with rice in a sheet of roasted seaweed and cut into bite-sized portions, served with generous amount of wasabi and pickled ginger.

For, the main course, we ordered Chicken Phad Thai noodles, the immensely popular Thai street food dish and were floored. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavors, the noodles had bean sprouts; chicken pieces, select greens and came garnished with kaffir lime. The next dish fish and chips had beer- batter fried fish, light crisp golden brown in color and served with chips and mushy peas. This lifted our spirits as we were tired of the usual breaded variety. Homemade ice cream ended our perfect meal and we left with fond memories.

Verdict- Dine at the majestic bungalow 9 on a laid back evening with good music, chic interiors and great presentation. Potted plants, cooling fans, mellow light from the lanterns and greenery help you relax after a hectic day. Unwind here with the prettiest of Bandra on summer evenings or dine with family and friends in the private dining areas. Valet parking is available. No take away facility and reservation is recommended as the place gets full on the weekends.
