Flying To San Francisco, One Of The Most Visited City In The World

“If you are going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.” the lyrics of the ever popular song were going round and round in my mind. I was so excited about visiting a city that I had longed to visit for years, often dreaming about the crisp cold San Francisco air and clear skies. I just could not stop thinking of walking across Union Street, watching the alluring merchandise in fancy shop windows with gaping eyes, and finally sitting down when delicious aromas beckoned to have juicy burgers and hearty milkshakes. My must-visit places list was overflowing and so was my bag that Ma had stuffed with gifts for our relatives living there. The only thing to do now was to set my case, catch a flight :)

Review: New Menu and One Tippling Place Pop-Up at Olive Bar & Kitchen

Tell us a name that pops up in your mind in the first five seconds when someone asks "Where Should We Go For Mediterranean Food In a Fabulous Ambience That Is Characteristic?" We bet your answer would be Olive Bar & Kitchen in Bandra, Mumbai. If no, we think you should reconsider :)

With the completion of 15 years, Olive recently invited us to try a new menu and a speakeasy style bar pop-up with One Tippling Place, located in Philadelphia. Interesting we thought....and off we went. We settled down at an alfresco table and chatted with Anne Frey & Myles from One Tippling Place and got to know that the emphasis of the cocktail menu would be on using fresh juices, house made syrups & bitters to lend a refreshing taste....and there would be vodka cocktails too.

Paella - The Spanish Rice dish - Facts and Recipe

A slow weekend is the best premise to explore something new. Some read a long forgotten book, a few settle down in front of the television but foodies like us; try new recipes. In search of a rice dish for the weekend question that arises in every household “Whats special for dinner?”  and having prepared Biryani, Fried Rice and Risotto infinite times, we were eager to tickle our taste buds with something different. Then we remembered. Paella seemed to be a good choice as most of the ingredients are easily found in the modern Indian Kitchen.

Summer Recipe: Watermelon Punch

When you see watermelon stacked up in pyramidal fashion by roadside fruit vendors, you know its summer. Yes in fact watermelon probably screams summer the best.

So what we do we do now :) Well Scoop out the wonderful pulp (the burst of color sure brings lot of delight on a hot summer day), blend it and then combine with grape juice, lime juice, sugar, mint, and club soda for a revitalizing punch.

Review: The Leela Mumbai Express Lunch At The Great Wall

The non stop pace of Aamchi Mumbai never ceases to amaze us. We work hard to indulge in wholesome meals and at the end of the day we are usually left with so little time that we rush through those indulgences. In fact, sitting at our work desk we often dream of foodie escapades that would nourish our souls but not take too much time....the boss is always timing lunch breaks you see. And on days that we have lunch meetings, we are at a loss. The time taken in selecting dishes- appetizers, main course, desserts is so much that we barely get to eat them. So when The Leela Mumbai invited us to try their Express Lunch at The Great Wall, we went one busy afternoon to try a luxurious lunch experience that does not demand too much on our busy work schedules.

10 Popular Shots

The GenY celebrations are incomplete without a shot or a shooter at the bar. A superb kick start for any occasion, a shot is a “sureSHOT” ice breaker. A shot is a term in mixology or bartending referring to a straight drink directly poured in a shot glass from the bottle. It is a spirit with 40 percent of alcohol. Although the sizes may differ but a standard size of shot is 1.5fl ounces (US) of liquor/ 42.62ml.

Traditionally, whiskey, vodka and tequila shots have been the most common. Shots have redefined themselves and they are not just a neat straight up. Today shots have a menu of their own, and an array of options to pick from. Some have names that will tickle your sozzled brain and will invite you for another one, while others have a concoction to die for.

Today we bring to you ten popular shots that you may not want to miss on your next bar trip.

Exotic Flavors of London Dairy That Get You to Indulge

‘Tring Tring’ the lilting chime of my local ice-cream wallah’s bell was enough for all the kids of my colony to gather around his little cart. But not before me....never before me. In record time, I would grab money from my piggy bank painstakingly saved over the week, steal a look in the mirror (a cute boy had recently moved next to us) and buy my favorite cone. Ice cream was a luxury, allowed once a week by Ma. The ice-cream cart spread a lot of happiness the day it came to our lane and I was obsessed with trying all flavors hidden in the bottom of that little cart. In fact I was so attracted to my weekly dose of ice cream that I had once tried to make some of my own when the cart failed to come one week!!!
