Review: Onam Sadhya Lunch at "The Orchid", Mumbai

My taste buds tingled as I made my way to The Orchid, at Vile Parle, Mumbai to feast on the Onam Sadhya special lunch at their restaurant “South of Vindhyas”. Traditional decorations like rangoli and “Samay”, a lamp common during auspicious ceremonies in Kerela, adorned the entrance. A boat decorated with spices stood proud and so did the traditionally dresses host and hostesses. I also noticed an arrangement laid out for Indian music to be played. Walking towards my table, I noticed a good turnout of people happily chatting as they pored over the elaborate buffet.

A Master Class with Chef Anthony of Haagen Dazs

Navigating heavy traffic, thoughts full of flavors and textures of the cool delights that my Master Class with Chef Anthony would earn me, I stepped into the Bandra outlet of Haagen Dazs on a Friday afternoon. A smiling Chef Anthony stepped forward to teach a select group a few tricks of the coolest trade.

Review: Irish pub, sports bar with good rock music.

What you see-
One early evening, we stumbled upon Irish pub located at Ramee Guestline hotel in Khar, Mumbai. Though it was just seven in the evening, we heard loud cheering sounds as we gingerly stepped inside. Every available space was occupied with sports fans cheering their favorite team. The pub had high bar stools placed in the centre and near a well lit bar. Big LCD screens played a Manchester United match which was intercepted with surprisingly good rock numbers at regular intervals. The warm wooden tones and framed pictures added to the old world charm feel of the pub. We were led to a separate enclosure, bereft of any screens which had well spaced tables. The pub also has an open air area strewn with rattan table and chairs.

With a rich work experience of 15 years Chef Joseph Stalin has a lot to smile about. From his early childhood, Chef Joseph was a foodie and wanted to make his career dishing out innovative recipes. With just practical knowledge as his strength he started working in his home town Hyderabad and later moved to Bhopal. In his spare time he loves reading, watching cricket and listening to music. Working now with Banana Leaf, a popular vegetarian South Indian restaurant in Mumbai he shares the recipes of two bestselling items with us. Enjoy!
