A Master Class with Chef Anthony of Haagen Dazs

Navigating heavy traffic, thoughts full of flavors and textures of the cool delights that my Master Class with Chef Anthony would earn me, I stepped into the Bandra outlet of Haagen Dazs on a Friday afternoon. A smiling Chef Anthony stepped forward to teach a select group a few tricks of the coolest trade.

Hagen Dazs, the premium ice cream brand has currently introduced a French Friday dessert theme, which will introduce the tastes of classic French desserts like “French Fondue”, “Love through Heart of Sauce Creation”, “Louvre Museum Pyramid” and more.

We started with a sundae inspired by the Eiffel tower. The chef first dusted chocolate powder on a stencil carved in the shape of Eiffel tower, placed a brownie opposite and topped it with a scoop of Belgian Chocolate and cookies and cream ice cream each.

Next, he circled the scoops with cream so it stays in place. He then placed Eiffel tower frozen chocolate shapes around the brownie with the fourth dusted chocolate shape acting as a shadow, topped it with fresh raspberries and voila! Our first dessert was ready.

It was handed over to an eager group to be feasted upon and vanished within minutes ☺

We eagerly gathered around him for our second creation-Macaroon Melts. Made of five different flavors of Ice-cream cupcakes and topped with macaroons filled with white truffle, it’s a sinful dessert. He placed five ice cream cupcakes, made in-house on a platter, topped them with sinful amount of cream and topped them with delectable macaroons.

We were then asked to create our own sundae from a variety of ingredients like ice cream cupcakes, macaroons, brownies, cookies, various toppings like chocolate vermicelli sprinkles, mango sauce, chocolate sauce and more.

It was absolute fun watching the participants mingle around to create a masterpiece of their own. We left Haagen Dazs a satiated and a smiling bunch. Now that’s what I would call a “Cool” master class.

Enjoy French Dessert Fridays at all Haagen Dazs outlets till September 30th.
